About Author
Nony Singh was born in 1936 in Lahore. She made her first photograph at the of seven. She is one of four sisters and a brother. The family fled to patiala in 1947 during the partition of India and Pakistan. She continued her schooling at AP Mission school in Dehradun. She did her BA at Miranda House, Delhi. Nony Singh got her first job at the World Agricultural Exhibition in Delhi in 1960. Within a few weeks of working there she met her agriculturist husband, who went on to achieve a world record in wheat production in 1967. They had four daughters whom she photographed extensively. Their home was filled with her photographs. she became a widow in 1981, after which she went through 3 decades of intense litigation. IN the court they called her a "Man" as she went from court to court, date to date, she lives in New Delhi with her vast archives of files, photographs and albums. She is currently working on her next book of all the photographs she is making from television.
